Managing reservations and occupancy is critical to the marina and space management business.
Whether you are making a reservation for someone to stay in one of your wet slips a week from now or checking someone into a slip right now, you still need to verify you have available space. That is the common functionality between a reservation and checking someone in immediately.
Let's look at the steps your staff would take to make a reservation for a customer for next month versus checking someone into a slip today.
Scenario 1: Make a reservation for next month.
Step 1: Check for availability
Enter the reservation dates, rental type (wet slip, dry storage, etc.), vessel and utility parameters, type of reservation (transient, recurring, seasonal), customer information, etc.
Step 2: Available spaces will appear on the screen.
Step 3: Select the space for the reservation.
Step 4: Summary confirmation and cost of the reservation is displayed on the screen. When the reservation is saved, an email and/or text is sent to the customer.
Scenario 2: Check a new customer who does not have a previous reservation into a space today.
The system will first check for availability, the same way you checked for availability to make a reservation in Scenario 1 above. So, you would repeat steps 1 – 4 above. When you reach step 4, you can immediately check someone into the space if the reservation date is today.
